Wireless and internet in Orlando
A live take is an encoder talking to a server. RTMP is the common handshake. RTMPS is that handshake on TLS. The park does not care which logo is on the modem. Ethernet is the stable ingest. Wi-Fi is shared air. Bonded cellular is several radios pretending to be one pipe. Named Orlando carriers belong on their own plan pages — Spectrum, AT&T Fiber, T-Mobile 5G Home, Verizon, Starlink — with speeds and prices read there, not invented here.
RTMP and RTMPS
YouTube Help’s live-encoder page lists the ingest protocol as RTMP/RTMPS. RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol) carries the encoded video and audio to a server URL plus a stream key. RTMPS is RTMP over TLS/SSL — the same payload, encrypted in transit. YouTube Help’s RTMPS article: it is “RTMP over a Transport Layer Security (TLS/SSL) connection.” In YouTube Live Control Room the Stream URL field still shows ordinary RTMP by default; the lock icon reveals the RTMPS URL. Both the protocol and the hostname should read rtmps, not only the first half. If the encoder throws an SSL error, that article’s example pins port 443.
The encoder must support RTMPS. A YouTube RTMPS preset is the short path; otherwise paste the RTMPS URL and the stream key. Stream keys behave like a password. Rotate them if a rehearsal leaked. Twitch, Facebook, and other ingest hosts publish their own RTMP(S) URLs — read the host you are actually sending to.
Ethernet, Wi-Fi, bonded cellular
Three ways to leave the encoder. Ethernet is a cable to a jack: lowest contention, clearest upload test. A laptop in 2026 often needs a dongle. Get this USB-C Ethernet adapter. Wi-Fi is radio to a router or a mesh node. Convenient in a house or a coffee shop; contested in a park with a hundred phones. A Wi-Fi 6 mesh search is the home/studio hop, not a Lake Eola promise. Get this. Bonded cellular aggregates two or more cell connections so one radio dropout does not kill the keyframe. Teradek-class boxes are the named search. Get this.
A 4G LTE camera modem is a different object: a SIM on the camera or a small router the camera treats as Ethernet. Useful when the body encodes itself. It is not bonded unless the box says it is. Get this. Wireless video (Hollyland-class) is camera-to-cart HDMI/SDI, not the internet. That search lives on cameras.

Named Orlando pipes
Availability is an address problem. Each carrier publishes a plan page. Read that page for speed, price, data policy, and whether the address qualifies. No number here is a quote.

A home jack (Spectrum, AT&T Fiber, Verizon fiber where the address qualifies) is the Ethernet column. T-Mobile 5G Home, Verizon 5G Home, and Starlink are radio or satellite last-miles that still want a local Ethernet or mesh hop to the encoder. Cellular bonded boxes ride the mobile networks, not the home-internet SKU. Do not assume a 5G Home plan is a roaming SIM for the park.
Read the plan page. Upload is the number that pays for CBR. Download is the number that fools a speed test.

Encoder numbers from YouTube Help
YouTube Help, “Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions”: protocol RTMP/RTMPS; video H.264 (also lists H.265 and AV1); audio AAC or MP3; CBR; keyframe frequency recommended 2 seconds, do not exceed 4; frame rate up to 60 fps. Recommended H.264 bitrate for 1080p at 30 fps is 10 Mbps; at 60 fps, 12 Mbps. YouTube Help’s streaming-tips page: leave about 20% upload headroom, and remember outbound bandwidth is the one that matters.
Uploads are a different sheet. YouTube Help’s recommended upload encoding settings use VBR-style guidance — 8 Mbps for 1080p SDR at 24/25/30 fps. Do not mix the live column with the upload column. The vlog structure lesson prints the upload table.

Field order for a live ingest

Name the host and the protocol
YouTube, Twitch, or another ingest. Copy RTMPS if the encoder supports it. Lock icon in YouTube’s Stream URL field. Key in a password manager, not a screenshot on the cart.

Set CBR to the live table
1080p30 at 10 Mbps H.264 unless the pipe cannot hold it. Keyframes every 2 seconds. Then measure upload, not download. 20% headroom is YouTube Help’s streaming-tips note.

Pick the pipe that actually exists
Jack and a USB-C Ethernet adapter. Mesh in the house. Bonded cellular in the park. A phone hotspot is a rehearsal, then a measured test at the same hour.

Fail the radio on purpose
Unplug Ethernet, walk out of Wi-Fi, or pull one SIM. Confirm the recorder still has a file. Cameras lesson: Ninja-class monitor, or internal record.
